Design production - Decisions
Being aware of common practices, why work against that and what are the rules and is it effective to the target audience.
Starting to consider colour, type and layout
specifying a specific colour, problematic.
Many different variations of a colour.
Choosing colour
Hexadecimal - allows accuracy in giving the exact colour (most consistent across platforms)
RGB (Red, Green, Blue)
RGBA (Red, Green, Blue, Alpha Channel) - The alpha channel works with opacity and transparency.
Considering submission - when documenting work rather than saying what the colour is instead using the the RGB value hexadecimal code. As if it was ready to be passed over to a developer to be made
Insights - Data
Alexa.com - analytics - statistics and data -
awareness of the most visited websites
One of the most commonly used colours. Being aware of these patterns but not nessesarily using it with practice.
Typography
Considering what fonts are web safe and legible.
Looking at what type is most commonly used and why that is?
Layout
Generally landscape designed websites are divided into rows and columns, revealing a standardized system, as low as one to twelve or even twenty-four.
There is a general belief that 12 span columns used on web based design. Almost any website can be over layed with a 12 column grid. This amount gives consistency and adaptability.
Other considerations:
Type size
For print 8pt is standard, not as much contrast
For screen 12pt. Screen has more contrast which can make legibility more difficult
Line length
Terms of screen 8-12 words - screen(rarely seen, screens are quite compact, type size would have to be compromised)
