Studio Brief 02 - Informed Research - Safety/Trust

Safety is one of if not the most important element in this interface. There needs to be an immediate sense of trust when opening the app and throughout. To accurately communicate this to an audience, research should be done into successful and not so successful apps is useful to informing progress.

This app was tested and failed to detect certain ingredients in products that were specified. 

The consideration of technology and accuracy would strongly be in mind within this project.







When put to the test this app failed to recognize a very prominent ingredient that was specified as an ingredient to avoid.

This app has a disclaimer that the user shouldn't rely on this app as their sole source of information for allergies.

But theres the question that if that's stated then why isn't this made clear to the audience. 

The user experience overall being stressful but 

There definitely needs to be a consideration of safety with testing products. 




Airbnb

The concept of this app has risk. Its putting customers in the position of trusting strangers with those who stay in a room and those who advertise it. 

Without a trustworthy interface this app wouldn't have as much success as it has. 

The co founder of the company said "We bet our whole company on the hope that with the right design, people would be able to overcome the stranger danger bias."

The small details with this interface are what make it effective. 

 "Across everything, even from the brand side, it ends up being a little softer and more human than most traditional marketplaces. Everything from the on boarding process to the transactions, we communicate subtly at different points," he says.

The phrasing is a large part of establishing trust for the user, rather than using direct language and having an option of what the user wants to interact with. 

To be assured that the consumer is being offered the best price a smart pricing feature allows customers decisions to be easier. This feature guides the user through different pricing recommendations which takes in as many as 50 factors such as seasonality and location. 

The trust in the interface also comes in the reviewing part of the Hosts and guests are asked to leave reviews after a stay, but the difference is that they can't see what the other party said until both have left a review. This ensures that people don't leave overly positive reviews in the hopes of getting good reviews in return.
