Putting this into consideration, looking at other formats in which the message could be delivered and also considering the briefs requirements.
Initial digital experimentations with type and image
Experiment 01
This outcome uses hand drawn font overlaying the image.
Experiment 02
Slightly different placing of text.
Experiment with arial bold over the image with slightly different phrasing.
Experiment 03
Experiment 04
Feedback- This type is effective however it doesn't seem to fit with the shape of the design, it doesn't seem like it belongs
- I like the type on its own the shape is good too but I think the type needs to be explored more
- I like the idea of using hand-drawn type but I don't think this particular experiment works
- I thin hand made type is the best avenue in wanting to evoke friendliness, other type might seem demanding if too bold
- I prefer the hand drawn type but exploring it further seems like the best way to tackle the approach
- These different types don't seem appropriate for the message, they look too rigid and bold and don't achieve the intended tone
- Explore more with hand drawn type
Further development
This devlelopment is formed by research. In order to make the type fit better within the layout and message using an existing image of a cow seemed appropriate to test and see the result of, from this there is a flow to the type which has been created by tracing over the form on the image to create more fluidity.
Developing this idea more and looking at making the outcome a lot bolder and more relevant to the subject matter with different digital experiments of colour and layout.
Feedback
Question: Do you prefer this use of type to the other uses?
- Yes I think this definitely captures the tone a lot better than the previous ones have
- I like how the flow of the type it seems to be better suited to the image, it looks like it belongs more with the image
- I think this works a lot better however I don't think the image works very well, its not that ledgible against the image as its quite bright and detailed, maybe with a different colour of type it could work?
- I don't really like the type and the image together I think you should try a different approach with the format.
Experimenting with different imagery to go with the type. This piece didn't prove to be that engaging with the combination of type and image. However the use of type fits the intended message a lot better.
