AE Workshop - Session 2

Making a new composition:

Importing separate layers:

This is useful when using an image with separate layers and wanting to retain the layers and the size.

Makes it a lot easier and faster to make an image.

Film and video presets

Using the same preset setting as used in after effects. The two programs work well together. There are presets that are compatible with other mediums such as app design.

Building compositions in photoshop and then importing elements into after effects to be animated.

Combining two compositions

Speed of animations

The closer the key frames are together the faster they are, the further away, the slower they will be.

Speed up by changing the space of the keyframes, either selecting individual key frames or selecting them all and changing the distance between them as a group.

Preparing a document for animating

Each item of the image has its own layer, making it easy to move around and manipulate.

Saving the file

file>save as> (saves the project file)

file>dependencies>collect files>collect all files (creates a new folder on desktop)

Export animation

composition>add to render queue> format options>H264>Render
